The Tani Language

The Tani language, a branch of the Sinitic language family, holds a rich linguistic heritage dating back centuries. Even during periods of colonial rule, such as the British rule in parts of Arunachal and the Qing Dynasty in China, a form of unified Tani persisted, serving as a vital means of communication among diverse Tani-speaking communities. Our organization is dedicated to reviving this ancestral language, drawing upon historical records, oral traditions, and linguistic expertise to reconstruct and promote a unified Tani language. A form of this unified Tani language is still spoken to this day, in China. Through collaboration among linguists, educators, and community members, we at TLF (Tani Language Foundation), aim to preserve the unique phonetic features, grammatical structures, and lexical richness, of our linguistic treasure, thereby strengthening cultural identity and cohesion across borders.
